Houston License Plate Recognition LPR / ANPR Installation Service and Repair
Capture and Record License Plate Numbers in a Searchable Database
We sell and install high end "Real" License Plate Recognition Security Cameras in the Houston Area. These cameras are often refereed to as License Plate Reader Cameras (LPR), or Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) cameras, and License Plate Capture Cameras.
While just about any camera can see, and record, a License Plate during the day if it's close enough and perfectly positioned, a real license plate camera is so much more.
License plate recognition is a highly specialized niche market in the security industry because it's complicated, and to really do it right, isn't exactly easy or cheap.
If you have been shopping around long then you know it's actually pretty hard to find anyone that's really actually good at it. There is a good reason for that. There are huge barriers such as cost and a huge learning curve.
Unlike installing a standard security camera there is a whole lot more to getting a camera to reliably capture plate images, especially at night with vehicle headlights or break lights blinding the cameras.
Just about every camera installation company in Houston will offer you a standard zoom camera when you ask about license plate recognition. From what I have seen, most are selling a standard zoom cameras and calling it a License Plate Camera. But, the fact is, a real LPR Camera is a very specialized camera. Not only is it specialized hardware but there are special guide lines that you need to know about to even get a real plate camera to work. You can't just mount it pointed at the back or front of the vehicle. There are special considerations you need to think about such as the mounting height, side angle and top angle. Once you have that figured out then there a slew of special programming adjustment in the specialized cameras that have to be configured and this usually has to be done in the evening after dark to get it right.
Once you have mastered getting the plate to be clear, day night, rain, shine or fog, then there is the task of figuring out how to get those plate numbers out of the video stream into a usable format. By that I mean getting the numbers into a database where there can be searched using a computer instead of having to watch the video it manually write down all the plate numbers. Can you imagine what a pain the butt it would be to have to slowly go through an entire days worth of video and writing down each number of every vehicle that passed in front of the camera? What if you did this every day for every vehicle that ever passed in front of the camera and a year into it you wanted to see if one specific plate had ever been there before. Yeah, it would be a mess. This is where Automatic Number Recognition Data Bases come into play. With our Plate Database Software you will be able to type in a plate number the Database Software will show you the entire history of that vehicle. The database not only store the numbers but it also store a snapshot of the vehicles plate.
